Start with your cat’s training as soon as possible. It does not matter the age of the cat. You have to set clear guidelines for it and stick to them. You can’t let your cat get away with something one day and reprimand it the next. Changing the rules will confuse your cat and it will not listen to any of your commands. Do not move the litter box around. Find one spot for it that is not in a high traffic area and leave it. If you move it too much, the kitty cannot find it and will not go in the correct spot. Do not allow your cat to hop on the counter one day and then shout at him the next day. He will not understand and will tend to ignore it thinking it is one of your habits. You can’t be shouting at him! You praised him doing the same thing just yesterday! This is why you need to learn how to train your cat properly.

If you use treats as a reward they must be given immediately after the desired action has been performed. If you don’t do this they will not know what they are being rewarded for. Another choice is to use a clicker or a tool that will make a loud noise. This will distract the cat from what it is doing and will cause the cat to direct its attention elsewhere. Your cat will learn to avoid the action that makes the sound and will steer toward actions that are rewarded with treats. It is hard to say what is motivating your kitty, avoidance of the loud noise or the treat as a reward, but if you get the desired action it does not matter. If you learn how to train your cat properly using these methods it is not a hard task to accomplish.

It does not matter how you train your cat, there are multiple successful techniques, but if you stick with it you will end up with a very well behaved cat.

How to Train a Cat to Use the Toilet

Did you ever wonder if it is really possible to train your cat to use the toilet instead of a litter box? Did you ever think how wonderful it would be to never have to clean a dirty, smelly litter box ever again? Well, it certainly is possible to do and if you learn how to train a cat to use the toilet, you will never have to clean that litter box again!

There are many different ways to train your cat to use the toilet and oddly enough which method you use will depend on what breed of cat you own. Each breed responds differently to training techniques and there are so many options to try when you are really serious about eliminating the litter box. I can remember all the times I changed my cats stinky litter box, thinking to myself, there has got to be a better way. Not to mention that kitty litter costs a small fortune. I hated every time I had to spend money on it, and I thought to myself, I can’t believe I have to spend so much money on something that my cat is going to go to the bathroom on.

After a couple years of spending my money on cat litter, I decided to search for some ideas on how to train a cat to use the toilet. The internet is the perfect place to find information on just about any subject so I did some research, visited many websites, and found lots of information from other people on what they think is the best way to approach this. I tried several suggestions that I found along the way, but to my disappointment, nothing worked. My cats did not want to hear it, and I was beginning to think I was doomed to a life of cleaning dirty litter boxes.

I continued my search, and one day I stumbled upon a website and bought an eBook on how to train a cat to use the human toilet. I figured the price is very reasonable with a money back guarantee, and all the free information got me no results at all. I took a chance and to my surprise, this book is filled with tons of helpful and effective training methods. I learned that it really depends on what breed of cat it is as to what method works the best. I would have never known that otherwise.

There are many different methods to try when teaching your cat to use the toilet. One of them is to slowly start moving the litter box closer and closer to the toilet until it is right next to it. Then, once your cat gets used to the new location you can make a container that will fit inside the rim of the toilet and put cat litter in it and introduce it to your cat, don’t forget to remove the litter box at this point, but I do recommend you have a litter box in another area of your home so if your cat does not take to the new bathroom situation, it will not go on the floor. The cat should recognize the cat litter as the place to go to the bathroom. It may not happen overnight but with persistence and patience, your cat should learn to use it. Once you have established that your cat is using the toilet, then you can try removing the cat litter all together. If your cat stops using the toilet, you may have to put the litter back for a while longer but eventually you should be able to remove it.

I am still in the process of teaching my cats the techniques in this book, as with anything else, it does take time and persistence. But, I have achieved some success, and was thrilled the first time my cat actually used the toilet! I still keep the litter box around though because I don’t want any “accidents on my floor while my cats are in training, but this is the most helpful information I have found Click Here To Get The Ebook Free

how to litter train a kitten

The first method of how to litter train is the standard way a kitten would use its litterbox. Therefore you have to buy boxes and lots of different litter for you kitty to choose from. Cats can be very fussy about where they do their business and your cat will let you know what they prefer.

After they have selected which combination of box and toilet filler, you need to rub its paws into it. What this does is leave a scent for the kitty to come back to. You must also leave their lavatory in a place accessible to them. This often means putting it in a room which they use the most. Finally you must clean out the box every single day because cats do not like doing their business on something dirty. The second method of how to litter train, for a kitten you will need a colander, some books and some strong tape.

Essentially this technique actually gets your little tiger to use the home latrine but it is not recommended for a very young cat. What you do is place their potty right next to the home latrine so the pet gets use to it being there. After a few days you should raise their potty with some books which would mean your little tiger has to get use to some height. You then raise it up to the same height as the normal lavatory so he/she has to climb further still.

After that you place the colander on top of the seat with some litter in it. After that your feline should start using the normal home water closet.

Attention all frustrated pet owners imagine what it would be like having an obedient pussycat. You can solve problems such as clawing, aggressiveness and relieving themselves. This is vital when getting them to the vets and getting them to take medication. Remember understanding is the key to a happy relationship. Our guide helps you to have the perfect relationship.

Are you wondering when is the best time to start litter training your kitten, and how to go about doing it? Fortunately, cats and kittens are naturally fastidious creatures, and they have a natural tendency to use the litter box. Unfortunately, if they start doing it in the wrong spot, it can be difficult to get them to move their activities to the litter box.

Why? Because your kitten thinks that the place to pee is the place where she smells her urine. So, if the first place she went was someplace inconvenient like your pillow…

This is the reason you should always have a good way to completely get rid of cat urine smells. An enzymatic cleaner like Nature’s Miracle is very handy when you start litter training a kitten. Sprinkle cat litter over the soiled spot then wipe it up with damp tissue paper. After that, use the cleaner to thoroughly clean the area where your kitten did its business.

You do not want to immediately throw away the soiled litter. Place the cat poop/pee in your kitten’s litter box, then bring her to it. Do not rub her nose in the soiled litter. However, use her paws to gently dig at the litter to show her how to bury her poo. Just be patient and she will eventually get the idea.

The best cat litter to use at this stage is probably sand or a non-clumping clay cat litter. Some cat owners say they have good results with crystal litter, but some people are a bit nervous about using this type of litter for kittens.

When Do You Start Kitten Litter Training?

Generally, you can start to litter train your kitten once she is 4 to 6 weeks old. In most cases, her mother will teach her how to use the litter box. Your kitten might be a fast learner, and learn to use her litter box in just a week. Or she might take more than a month. This is one reason why you should not adopt a kitten less than 3 months old. Her litter training and socialization is not yet complete, and she will likely show other behavior problems in the future.

Of course, you do not always have a choice. For example, if you adopt an orphaned kitten, you may have to take the place of her mother. It helps a lot if you already have an adult cat who is already litter trained. Your kitten will tend to follow the older cat’s example.

If you bought your kitten from a breeder, you should ask for some of your kitten’s poop and soiled litter. Although it sounds gross, this can be really helpful in litter training a kitten. You also need to get the same kind of cat litter the breeder uses as well as the same kind of litter box. These are just some shortcuts to speed up the kitty litter training process.

Litter training your kitten need not be difficult. However, you do need to be loving and patient with your kitten. You also need to immediately and thoroughly clean up any accidents.

You have adopted a kitten from a family whose cat had a litter of five kittens. Your kitten has just arrived and is ready for training. She is a lovely tortoiseshell kitten with a ginger, and tortoiseshell siblings and a tortoiseshell mother. It was sad to remove her from these other amazing animals but you and your family are excited about the new addition to the household. Take a look at why you need to train your kitten and how you train your kitten.

Why Do You Train A Kitten

Everyone in the family has to comply with a set of guidelines so why should the kitten be an exception. Angel, the name of the kitten needs guidance just like children do when they are babies, toddlers. preschoolers and beyond. After all she will need your help to feed and water her and protect her from the elements. it is great to provide a calm, warm environment and training Angel will ensure that you have a loving cat that does not eat your furniture, pee on your houseplants and is protected from potential dangers. Angel needs to know what behaviour is acceptable and what behaviour is unacceptable, especially as there are some unacceptable behaviours that can also be dangerous.

It is important to realise that cats are wonderful creatures filled with curiosity and like humans, have different personalities. Some are snugly, affectionate, friendly and are content to nap on your lap. Some are standoffish and will only allow the occasional solemn head pat before regally stalking of to stretch and preen in the sunshine. And others are ‘wild cats’, hell bent on running straight up the walls in pursuit of invisible prey, knocking down all who dare get in their pathway. Although you won’t be able to change the basic nature of Angel, you can try and change the more obnoxious behaviours — should they occur. You will have to try and remember to have patience — some cats take to training quite well, others take a little longer. You will get to know Angel.

Also cats do the things they do for various reasons and before training begins, it is important to have basic understanding of why?

Angel may misbehave due to:
~ boredom
~ growing from kitten to adult — see picture of an adult tortoiseshell cat
~ an impending or ongoing illness. It is best to rule out this one first. Maybe a health professional will be required to help out.

How Do You Train Your Kitten?

1. Make a List:

…of everything which needs changing and start with the worst offender first. It is best to teach one behaviour at a time because too many changes will make the cat confused and potentially worst behaved than before.

2. Give Clear, Consistent Guidelines:

Do this immediately as to what is and what is not acceptable in your home. We will have to remember not to change the rules from day to day eg if Angel climbs on the bench you should not tell her off on one day and then accept this on another day. You will have to organise consistency with all family members.

3. Treats and Rewards:

These can be effective with cats as long as they are given immediately after the behaviour.
Do not bother reprimanding your cat as it is often ineffective.

4. Clicker Technique:

This is when a loud noise from a clicker can be given to Angel should she misbehave. This intolerable noise will grab her attention and she will learn to avoid the undesired action and do an action that will give her a treat. It is not the treat that motivates her but the intolerance of the clicking sound.

5. Cat Training Classes:

You could always take Angel along to training classes to find out some appropriate techniques.
