Portable’s former signee, Mannie Money, has opened up about his struggles with depression after learning that WizKid generously gifted his colleague, God Over Everything (GOE), a substantial sum of 20 million naira for praising him in a song.
The Afrobeats icon, WizKid, reportedly bestowed this monetary reward upon GOE, the artist behind the track “Ta Ta Ta,” as a gesture of appreciation for the lyrical homage paid to him in the music piece.
Mannie Money took to his social media platform to candidly share his emotional turmoil, expressing that he has plunged into a state of depression as a consequence of this revelation. In his revelation, Mannie Money disclosed that he, along with Bolisco and GOE, had collectively invested significant effort into the creation of the song. However, to his dismay, only one of them received recognition and financial acknowledgment.
He lamented the uneven distribution of rewards, emphasizing that if he were the recipient of the funds, he would have generously shared 5 million with each of his colleagues who contributed to the collaborative effort. This public disclosure sheds light on the complexities and disparities within the music industry, as Mannie Money grapples with the emotional toll of feeling overlooked and unrewarded despite his artistic contributions.
