“Today is a very sad day for me, a day I can never forget” Mohbad’s father marks his first post-humous birthday

Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Mohbad (Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba), marked his son’s first posthumous birthday on social media with a poignant tribute. Taking to Instagram, Joseph Aloba expressed deep sorrow in celebrating his son’s birthday without him being alive, describing the day as one he can never forget.

The grieving father mentioned how he used to celebrate Mohbad’s birthday every year, but this year, he couldn’t do so anymore. In a heartfelt post, he commemorated the occasion, saying, “Today is a very sad day for me, a day I can never forget. I usually celebrate it every year but I can’t anymore this year. (Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Mohbad Oba Imole keep resting son).”

In another post, Joseph Aloba expressed love for his late son, acknowledging that while he loves Mohbad, God loves him even more. He wished his son a “Happy heavenly birthday.”

Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, passed away tragically at the age of 27 on September 12, under unclear circumstances. His death was followed by videos circulating of him being bullied by his former boss and members of the group. The mystery surrounding his death is still under investigation by the Nigeria Police.

Joseph Aloba had previously voiced his heartbreak through an emotional song after his son’s death, lamenting how the world used Mohbad to fight him. He called on his creator for help, expressing his human vulnerability.

However, Mohbad’s father had previously sparked controversy by defending Naira Marley for bullying his son. He claimed that Naira Marley was attempting to correct Mohbad but the late singer didn’t heed the advice.

Furthermore, Joseph Aloba had faced criticism for the swift burial of his son, explaining it as a tradition. He also addressed concerns about the burial location, beside a cassava farm, stating it was the only land he knew belonging to Mohbad.

Adding to the controversies, he accused his son’s widow of infidelity, claiming she put sleeping pills in Mohbad’s noodles and accused her of being involved with one of the late singer’s signees, citing this as a reason for mistrust. The intricate dynamics within the family continue to be a subject of discussion and speculation within the public sphere.
