Real reason I didn’t want to marry Adekunle Gold – Simi (Hidden Secret)

In a recent installment of “Tea with Tay,” Simi, the renowned singer also known as Simisola Kosoko, made a revelation that added a charming twist to her love story. Contrary to her initial reservations, she confessed that she never harbored any intentions of marrying a fellow musician.

To everyone’s surprise, Simi candidly admitted that she wasn’t aware of her now-husband Adekunle Gold’s musical prowess when they first encountered each other. In her own words, “When I first met my husband, I didn’t know he was singing because me I already said I cannot marry a singer. I didn’t know he was singing, I think he was even a fan.”

The talented artist, who wears the hats of both a mother and a wife, shared a delightful insight into the early days of their relationship. Simi revealed that her initial attraction to Adekunle transcended his musical identity; rather, it stemmed from his genuinely kind-hearted nature.

This revelation resonates with Simi’s previous statements made during a 2023 interview with The Beat 99.9 FM. In that conversation, she unveiled that their journey from dating to marriage spanned an impressive five years, culminating in their union in 2019.

Reflecting on the pivotal moment when their paths first crossed at one of her concerts, Simi emphasized how Adekunle’s inherent kindness played a pivotal role in winning her over to the idea of dating him. The love story between Simi and Adekunle Gold unfolds as a beautiful narrative, proving that sometimes, the best surprises come when expectations are pleasantly surpassed.

Simi said:

“I don’t remember how we eventually linked up again. I had a show Bogobiri, and he turned up. He was very slim at that time with white BYC and jeans. He came to see me perform. I was like, ‘Oh hey!’ He was like, ‘Oh! I’m such a fan.’ And I was like, ‘Okay!’ (laughs).

“I don’t know, he must have been persistent because there is a friendship that came out from there. I thought he was a really nice guy. We became friends and later that year, he asked me out.

“I mean, as much as I was sounding like all that, I still didn’t really have nothing. He was a nice guy and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t mind a nice guy’ (laughs).”
