Nigerian skit creator and actor, Mr Macaroni, has recently taken to his Twitter page to wade into the ongoing rift between fans of artists Davido and Burna Boy, following a heated online exchange with a self-proclaimed Davido supporter.
The confrontation ensued after Mr Macaroni voiced his disapproval of a video depicting Davido’s bodyguard, Lati, allegedly assaulting a fan of the musician. Expressing his opinion that the situation could have been handled differently, Mr Macaroni found himself embroiled in a verbal spat with a Twitter user identified as @kellybonito_, who accused him of selective outrage by failing to address Burna Boy’s remarks about veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem’s health.
In response to the allegations hurled by Davido’s fan, Mr Macaroni asserted that he refrains from engaging in the fanbase conflicts that often permeate social media platforms like Twitter. He clarified that his commentary on the incident involving Davido’s bodyguard was motivated by a desire to defend the rights of a Nigerian citizen who had been mistreated, rather than by any partisan allegiance to Davido or Burna Boy.
Emphasizing his admiration for Davido while questioning the sincerity of the troll’s devotion to the artist, Mr Macaroni underscored his commitment to principles of fairness and justice in his online interactions, steering clear of the divisive fervor that characterizes fan-driven conflicts on social media platforms.
