In a recent statement, renowned Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, opened up about why he believes he has achieved more success than some of his fellow billionaire children in the entertainment industry.
Davido, the celebrated “Timeless” superstar, shared his insights while appearing as a guest on “Business Entitled.” He reflected on the challenges he faced in gaining acceptance within the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly in comparison to other wealthy individuals such as DJ Cuppy and Kiddwaya.
Despite being born into wealth as the child of billionaire and business mogul Adedeji Adeleke, Davido has carved out a successful career in the music industry spanning over a decade. However, he has faced criticism online for not having a “rags to riches” story like some of his peers.
During the interview, Davido candidly revealed that when he first entered the music scene and released his debut song, he encountered skepticism and resistance from some quarters. Many doubted his authenticity and talent, attributing his success solely to his privileged background.
Davido’s acknowledgment of these challenges sheds light on the misconceptions and prejudices he has had to overcome throughout his career. Despite his family’s wealth, he has worked tirelessly to establish himself as a respected and accomplished artist in his own right, earning recognition and acclaim for his musical talents and contributions to the industry.
According to Davido, the “Fall” crooner, he was accepted because of the values he possessed as an artiste.
Speaking further, Davido said that there are many billionaire children whose fathers are richer than his father and have tried music, entertainment among others but have not been successful.
Note that some of the billionaires children that have graced the Nigerian entertainment industry are Dj cuppy ,DJ exclusive (Alakija family) ,L.A.X (Afolabi money), Dr Sid, Lynx, Naeto C, Kiddwaya among others.
Davido said music lovers accepted him to date for one reason and that is because he is a good artiste accompanied with talent.
